“The collective features; MC/producer Baba Israel, vocalists Duv and Grace Galu, saxophonist/flutist Sean Nowell, drummer Doron Lev, and multi-instrumentalist/producer Yako 440 on guitar and bass. Soul Inscribed flows seamlessly between crafted songs and improvisation, and human beatboxing.
Soul Inscribed received a Fulbright grant in 2017 to perform and lead workshops in Mauritius through the U.S. Embassy. As arts educators, Soul Inscribed has brought their music to young audiences across the world. Melbourne Arts Center (Australia), University of Istanbul (Turkey), and Cumbre Tajin Festival (Mexico), and U.S. Embassies in Croatia and Tanzania have all hosted members of Soul Inscribed. Their educational performances share their music and bring participants up to perform as the band’s producer, as guest beatboxers, to program beats on drum machines, and provide topics for freestyle and improvisation.
In 2016, Soul Inscribed was selected to participate in the State Department’s “American Music Abroad” program and toured Russia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Mauritius as cultural ambassadors.
Their self-titled debut studio album was released in 2016. The album pays homage to the rare groove sounds they love and explores future soul with remixes from DJ Kiva (Adios Babylon Studios) and Dan West (Cooking on Three Burners) along with a soulful boom bap remix from New Zealand’s legendary DJ and Producer, P-Money.”
