Tim Walz floats deploying National Guard to Minneapolis after ICE shooting in blistering

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday as the Trump administration cracks down on the city.

The woman, who was identified as Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot after driving towards officers during ICE’s operations in Minneapolis. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the Daily Mail in a statement that she was ‘attempting to kill them’.

Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to declare that the woman driving the car was ‘a professional agitator’ who ‘violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer’ before the agent acted in self defense.

DHS said she ‘weaponized her vehicle’ and called her actions an ‘act of domestic terrorism,’ the statement said.

Democrat Mayor Jacob Frey blasted ICE’s characterization of the shooting and told them to ‘get the f**k out of Minneapolis.’

‘They are already trying to spin this as an act of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I wanna tell everybody directly, that is bull****.’

Walz prepared to deploy National Guard

Governor Tim Walz said he has warned the Minnesota Natural Guard to prepare for deployment to Minneapolis.

‘We have soldiers in training and prepared to be deployed if necessary,’ he said.

‘They are teachers in your community, they’re business owners, they’re construction professionals, they are Minnesotans.

‘Minnesota will not allow our community to be used as a prop in a national political fight. We will not take the bait.’

AOC says the shooting is ‘our greatest fear’

Speaking to reporters, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good was American’s ‘greatest fear.’

‘This has now turned int what our greatest fear is and has been for a long time around ICE – that this will be used as an anti-civilian force that has no accountability,’ she said.

‘At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder and murder in cold blood needs to be prosecuted.’

She then went on to call the agent involved in the shooting a ‘criminal’ and said the federal government is turning into a ‘tyranny.’

Noem claimed the victim was ‘stalking’ ICE officers

Noem said at the news conference that Renee Nicole Good had been ‘stalking’ immigration enforcement agents prior to the shooting.

‘It’s very clear that this individual was harassing and impeding law enforcement operations,’ she said, before calling on federal prosecutors to charge individuals who use their vehicles to ram ICE agents as domestic terrorism.

The Department of Homeland Security said they were acting in self-defense when the agent opened fire.

Agent ‘followed his training’

Noem insisted on Wednesday that the agent involved in the shooting ‘followed his training.’

She said he ‘used his training to save his life and those of his colleagues.’

Noem says Trump will not let city ‘burn’

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said she would not let the city ‘burn,’ claiming it had ‘burned’ once before, ostensibly referring to the riots following the death of George Floyd in 2020.

Agent involved in shooting was previously run over, Noem claims

At a news conference on Wednesday night, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed the agent involved in the shooting was previously ‘rammed’ by an ICE protester in a separate incident in June, when he was ‘dragged.’

She said he suffered injuries in that incident.

FBI says it is investigating the fatal shooting

The FBI has said it is investigating the fatal shooting.

‘Consistent with our investigative protocol, the incident is under review, and we are working closely with our law enforcement partners,’ the agency said in a statement.

Video shows ICE agents apparently stopping a doctor from examining the victim

Video circulating on social media apparently shows ICE agents blocking a doctor from examining the victim after she was shot.

In the video, a man who identifies himself as a physician asks to check Renee Nicole Good’s pulse, at which point agents tell him that medics are on their way.

‘Hey listen, we understand, we’ve got EMS coming, man, I get it, just give us a second,’ one agent could be heard saying.

‘We have medics on scene. We have our own medics,’ he said.

Woman’s death marks ninth ICE shooting since September

Renee Nicole Good’s death marks the ninth ICE shooting since September, according to The New York Times.

All of the individuals targeted in those shootings were fired on while in their vehicles, and at least one other person has died as a result of the shootings.

In September, ICE officers pulled over a Mexican immigrant named Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, who was shot and killed less than one minute later. Homeland Security officials said he hit and dragged one of the officers with his car, and that the officer who shot him was acting in self-defense.

One month later, Carlitos Ricardo Parias, a Mexican man living in LA, was shot during a traffic stop in which he was targeted by ICE agents. Federal officials said he tried to ram the officers as he fled the scene and Homeland Security officers fired, hitting him in the elbow.

Days after that incident, Carlos Jimenez, an American citizen, was shot in the shoulder by an immigration agent in a suburb east of LA. Lawyers for Jimenez said he had asked federal agents to move away from the area, where he said schoolchildren would soon be gathering, and he was shot while he drove away.’

But federal prosecutors accused him of pulling forward and accelerating toward an officer.

Since September 2024, ICE’s internal firearms and use of force committee also investigated three incidents in which an officer used a firearm and in the year before that, there were five incidents in which an ICE officer used a firearm.

Under ICE and the Homeland Security Department’s policy on the use of force, officers are allowed to use deadly force only if the agent ‘has a reasonable belief that the subject of such force poses an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury.’

It further states that officers should ‘avoid intentionally and unreasonably placing themselves in positions in which they have no alternative to using deadly force.’

Kyle Rittenhouse jokes about entering Minneapolis

Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of murdering two people during the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020, joked about going into Minneapolis following the death of Renee Nicole Good.

‘After thinking about it, should I travel across the state line to Minnesota?’ he wrote, with a smiling emoji.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani calls the Minneapolis shooting ‘horrific’ as he reaffirms city’s ‘sanctuary city’ stance

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the ‘news coming out of Minneapolis is horrific.

‘This is one part of what has been a year full of cruelty,’ he claimed. We know when ICE agents attack immigrants, they attack every single one of us across this country.’

Discussing what will happen in the Big Apple, Mamdani said the city will ‘uphold our sanctuary city policies’ as he repealed an executive order allowing ICE agents access to the notorious Riker’s Island.

‘We are not here to assist ICE agents in their work,’ Mamdani said.

City says victim died at the hospital

In a statement, the city of Minneapolis said police officers ‘responded to the reports of shots fired and found a woman with life-threatening gunshot wounds to the head.

‘Minneapolis firefighters then removed the 37-year-old victim from the vehicle and immediately began lifesaving measures until paramedics could respond,’ city officials told the Associated Press.

‘She was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she later died.’
